Amy Harms
09:25 - 09:35 "Leiden Metabolomics and Analytics Centre core facility supporting metabolomics studies for clinical and exposome applications."
Amy Harms is a senior scientist in the Metabolomics and Analytics Centre and manages the Biomedical Metabolomics Facility Leiden. The aim of her research is to develop and apply separations coupled with mass spectrometry for metabolomics-driven personalized health strategies with a focus on exposome and microbiome research for identifying biomarkers of exposures and lifestyle. She participates in the Netherlands X-omics initiative and is a work package leader in the Exposome-NL consortium, and Exposome-Scan offering a state-of-the-art infrastructure for Exposome research. In addition to these NWO infrastructure grants, she also participates in the recently awarded EU project “Reconstruction and Computational Modelling for Inherited Metabolic Diseases” (Recon4IMD). She is a member of the NIH supported Metabolomics Quality Assurance & Quality Control Consortium (mQACC) working to develop and teach industry standards. Her goal is to support the development of novel intervention strategies to prevent or treat cancer, metabolic diseases, (cardio)vascular, and neurodegenerative diseases.
