Yin Yoga & Yoga Nidra session
Time: 16h00 - 17h15
Where: UM Sports - Body & Mind Studio
Trainer: Ilona Lucia Yoga & Reiki
Yin Yoga is a slow-paced style of yoga where poses are held for an extended period, usually around 3-5 minutes or even longer. The focus is on targeting the deeper connective tissues and joints, aiming to increase flexibility and promote relaxation. But Yin Yoga isn't just about physical postures – it's an introspective journey. As you sink into each pose, you'll learn to observe your thoughts and sensations without judgement. This can be a powerful tool for managing the challenges that come with university life.
Yoga Nidra, also know as 'yogic sleep,' is a guided meditation practice that induces deep relaxation and conscious awareness. You lay down in a comfortable position and follow my voice, gradually moving your attention through different parts of the body and entering a state between wakefulness and sleep. The goal of Yoga Nidra is to achieve a profound level of relaxation, reduce stress, and even tap into the subconscious mind.

Self-defense
Time: 20h00 - 21h30
Where: UM Sports - Exercise Studio
Self-defense is the act of protecting oneself from harm using physical force, techniques, or strategies. It involves defending against attacks or threats in situations where your safety or well-being is in danger. Self-defense can include physical techniques, but it also encompasses awareness, de-escalation tactics, and other preventive measures to avoid or escape dangerous situations.
This martial-arts based class at UM SPORTS might include:
- Counter attacking as soon as possible (or attacking pre-emptively)
- Neutralizing the opponent as quickly as possible
- Maintaining awareness of surroundings while dealing with the threat in order to look for escape routes, further attackers, objects that could be used to defend or help attack and so on.
Self-defense is not just about physical techniques; it's about a mindset of personal safety and taking proactive measures to protect yourself in all aspects of life. Benefits of this training might be an increased level of confidence, physical fitness and empowerment.
Boxing
Time: 21h30 - 23h00
Where: UM Sports - Exercise Studio
Make use of this unique opportunity to participate in a Boxing training at UM SPORTS. In a playful way, you will learn some boxing techniques such as punches or defense moves. Boxing is an excellent physical training as it is a full-body workout. Mentally, boxing provides a productive outlet for releasing stress and aggression.
The training is often in pairs, so it might be fun to sign up with a friend, but the trainer will make sure everyone has a partner to practice with.
