Identity

At the Keti Koti Dialogue Table, you engage in conversation with someone of a different skin colour. This person is your conversation partner during the dialogue table. Duos are brought together by the organisation. We ask you to indicate which colour you most identify with.

Language

The main language (announcement, explanation) of the event is English. The language you prefer to use in the one-to-one conversations is up to you. The organisation tries to take this into account as much as possible when putting together the duos.

Kon Na Leti

The Kon Na Leti [Surinamese for ‘bring to the light’] is a personal disclosure through which a participant brings their story to the light. It is an essential and courageous part of the evening.

This also breaks the ice for the other participants, encouraging them to openly share their story with their conversation partner and dare to be vulnerable.

During a Keti Koti Table, there are two Kon Na Leti's: one by a Black participant/participant of colour/participant with non-white migration background and one by a white participant.

The Keti Koti Table Foundation has guidelines and can help write these personal stories.

Your story to the light?

The chosen theme of the dialogue table is Speaking Out & Remaining Silent
