5G in the Greenhouse: The Future of Wireless Communications and Our Approach
During this session by Do IoT Fieldlab and TNO, we will explore how innovative wireless communication technology, such as 5G, revolutionises greenhouse horticulture. Led by Fabian van Prooijen (Do IoT Fieldlab), we will take you on an inspiring journey through the possibilities and applications of Future Network Services in greenhouses.
Marc van Dijk (TNO) provides insight into the benefits of wireless technology in the greenhouse, and we will demonstrate our approach via SenseNL’s use case. What can growers and other stakeholders expect from improved connectivity? How do we ensure that technology is applied practically and is valuable? How does this contribute to smarter, more efficient, and more sustainable processes? Together, we answer the most important questions to create a straightforward story that matches the sector's needs.
Pascal Heijnen (TNO) shares the development planning of the Future Network Services Functionalities Roadmap and shows how we implement functionalities in the network architecture step by step to help the sector move forward.
AI Innovations and Applications in Businesses
This interactive break-out session, led by the MKB Data Studio and the AgTech Institute, provides an accessible introduction to Artificial Intelligence (AI) and its practical applications. Discover how AI can transform your business processes, explore innovative research from TU Delft, and gain valuable tips on leveraging this technology effectively in your business environment.
After a brief introduction to AI, Machine Learning, Deep Learning, and Generative AI and an explanation of the popularity of Generative AI, the large datasets, and the technologies behind it, we will show practical examples of TU Delft’s innovative AI research focusing on projects in the agricultural sector. Using our practical tools and models, you will get to experience how AI can optimise your business processes.
Energy Hub in Greenhouse Horticulture
Engage in a brainstorming session about the requirements for an integrated Energy Hub greenhouse horticulture. The hub aims to link multiple users, suppliers, and storage systems to optimise sustainable energy use. The energy should support greenhouse operations and contribute to regional energy solutions. TU Delft (AgTech Institute) collaborates with Wageningen UR Bleiswijk, The Green Village, and various public and private stakeholders to set up an R&D program to develop this hub.
Smart Polder Initiative
This session aims to gather your input on realising an innovative and integrated Smart Polder in a changing living and food production environment. A Smart Polder aims to jointly develop new strategies and technologies to make and keep the water system healthy.
The food production sector faces multiple water challenges. These include PFAS-contaminated water and soil, excessive pesticide levels, and water quantity issues due to climate change. Addressing these challenges through the Smart Polder Initiative will help ensure sustainable and efficient water management and improve the region's overall water resilience.
