Short introduction of the workgroups

Mental health on Wikipedia
Wikipedia has become the 'go to' resource for many. It provides more or less reliable information on a huge range of topics, including mental health. There is much evidence to suggest that the majority of volunteers who contribute to Wikipedia are highly educated young men from the Global North. This has consequences for the content on Wikipedia, such that women scientists and women's health issues are under-represented.
In this workshop, we will 1) learn about how Wikipedia works, 2) identify gaps on Wikipedia to be filled, and 3) explore controversies about how mental health issues are discussed on Wikipedia.

Citational Justice in Academia
This workshop is inspired by the UM Citation Guide, A Guide by FEM and the LSE blog that my colleagues and I at UM published. These publications illuminate gender citation biases in academia and give various recommendations to help educators and students reflect on their citation practices and thus mitigate these biases. To help move these conversations to the classroom, we further developed toolkits that have been implemented in various curriculums at UM. For the purpose of this workshop, we will use the toolkits for an exercise and a discussion session.

On the way to accessible and inclusive research
People with a lower socio-economic position, disabilities, or low literacy are often underrepresented in scientific research. Researchers find it difficult to reach these priority groups. Involving various underrepresented groups is crucial for societal impact and an essential part of ethical and high-quality research. In this workshop, you will 1) learn about the importance of inclusive research, 2) reflect on potential pitfalls, and 3) receive practical tools on how to make your own research more inclusive.
