Welcome at our MHeNs one-day workshop for PhD students:

Topics in Translational Neuroscience
Gender and inclusivity in research

 20 February 2025

Once a year, MHeNs organises a Topics in Translational Neuroscience workshop (TTN).
This year the topic is sex and gender diversity and inclusivity in neuroscience research; a topic that is of interest for all three MHeNs divisions. TTN workshops are one-day courses for PhD candidates at MHeNs. This year’s TTN workshop includes interactive parallel sessions, plenary lectures and discussion.

We have invited several experts working in this field to give broad introductions to the relevant topics, including talks on sex bias in medical research and inclusive research methodologies, or to chair a parallel workshop on sex/gender and inclusivity. The workshops cover inclusive reporting, illustrated by how information on women's health issues is described on Wikipedia; inclusive citation practices to diversify your reference list and help understand bias in the academic world; and learning how to make your research more accessible and inclusive for other underrepresented groups, such as people with a lower socio-economic position.

Location: Jan van Eyck Academie, Maastricht.
