Johanne Rauwenhoff - Resilience towards depressive and anxiety symptoms after acquired brain injury.
Biography:
Johanne completed her Master’s degree in Neuropsychology from Maastricht University in 2017. Currently, she is a PhD candidate at the Limburg Brain Injury Center. Her research focuses on the treatment of mood symptoms following acquired brain injury and specifically if Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is a potential treatment option. She also works as a psychologist at GGz Eindhoven for two days a week.
Abstract:
Following an acquired brain injury, such as a stroke or traumatic brain injury, people are at an increased risk of developing mood symptoms. The treatment of these mood symptoms is challenging. Would it be beneficial to focus on improving resilience or psychological flexibility instead of focusing on the reduction of mood symptoms? During this presentation, it will be explained how psychological flexibility can be defined and how it can be improved in people with acquired brain injury.
