Dr Lizzy Boots, PhD and psychologist, is an assistant professor at Maastricht University and the coordinator of psychosocial research within the Alzheimer Centre Limburg. Her research focuses on translating psychosocial needs into care innovations and implement them into daily practice. One example is the Partner in Balance (PiB) programme, a transdiagnostic tool for caregivers (e.g. young-onset dementia Frontotemporal dementia, Parkinson’s disease, Huntington’s disease) which was co-created with informal and professional caregivers. In 2017, Partner in Balance won the ZonMw ‘Medical Inspiration Prize’ for the best collaboration between researchers and end-users.
