The Inps and the Italian economic miracle: politics, economy, and cultures between 1958 and 1969
The project explores the politics of retirement in Italy. It explains the role of the Inps (National Institute of Social Security) in participating in the Italian economic and social policies during the '60s. Specifically, the financial activity and the methods of administering contribution resources. This approach defines the key research question of the project: what was (were) the economic function(s)
of the Inps within the Italian 'great transformation'?
Firstly, the research reconstructs the administrative bodies of the Institute. Secondly, the economic relevance of the Institute's policies and their interaction with the Italian modernisation. Finally, the comparison with other European experiences.
