Bio
Dr. Ariane Sharif has been an Associate Professor in Neuroscience at the University of Lille since 2011. After a Ph.D. in Neuroscience in the field of brain tumour development at the Collège de France in Paris, she joined her current laboratory, the Laboratory of Development and Plasticity of the Neuroendocrine Brain, headed by Vincent Prevot, for a post-doctoral fellowship to continue her research on glial cells and brain tumours in collaboration with clinicians from the Lille University Hospital. After her recruitment, she reoriented her research around the main topic of the laboratory, which is the study of the mechanisms by which the hypothalamus controls reproduction and energy metabolism, integrating her expertise in the field of glial and neural stem cells. She explores these topics in both animal and human models and showed how the production of new cells in the postnatal hypothalamus regulates sexual maturation and metabolism in rodents, in addition to describing the specific organization of the hypothalamic stem cell niche in the adult human hypothalamus. She teaches Neurosciences, Neuroendocrinology, Histology, and Oncology for scientific and medical students at the University of Lille. Between 2016 and 2021, she was a member of the Neuroscience Study Section (CSS4) at Inserm, participating in the recruitment panel for Inserm researchers, and is a regular member of recruitment panels for Associate Professors.
