Bio
Marialetizia Rastelli is post-doctoral researcher in the team Development & Plasticity of the Neuroendocrine Brain (hypothalamus.eu) (U1172) at Lille Neuroscience and Cognition (LilNCog).
Marialetizia studied Biotechnology at the University La Sapienza of Rome, in Italy, where she also obtained a Master in Pharmaceutical Biotechnology. During her studies she performed two Erasmus internships, in France and in Belgium.
Enthusiastic about research, she obtained her PhD in 2020 at Universite’ Catholique de Louvain (UCLouvain) in Belgium, under the supervision of Dr. Patrice Cani and thanks to FNRS funding. Her work aimed to understand the role of the intestinal endocannabinoid system in the control of food intake and energy homeostasis.
Fascinated by the communication between the gut and the brain (gut brain-axis), she joined as post-doc in the team of Dr. Vincent Prevot, in Lille, to explore further the link between the intestinal microbiota and the development of the neuroendocrine brain.
In order to share her passion for Science with the youngest researcher, Marialetizia contributed to the organization of the 2nd edition of the international Summer School entitled “From gut to brain: how our gut microbiome influences our emotions and behaviors” , which was addressed to Master and PhD students from Europe and China and she contributed as instructor to the workshop “Introduction to experimental neuroscience” in Bordeau NeuroCampus, to share her knowledge about gut-brain axis.
