Bio
Professor Odile Viltart has been recruited at the University of Lille in 1994, in the field of Neuroscience. Her teaching responsibilities primarily take place at the PsySEF faculty, where she imparts knowledge to psychology students. Her courses cover a range of fundamental neuroscience topics, including neuroanatomy, neurochemistry, basis of neuropsychopharmacology ethology, or eating disorders. Additionally, she contributes to the Biology Department, offering insights into ethology and integrative biology.
Prof. Viltart's research is prominently centered on eating disorders, with a specific focus on anorexia nervosa. Her approach involves translational studies, where she combines animal models replicating the symptoms of this disorder with clinical evaluations thanks to a close collaboration with Hopital St Anne and Institute of Psychiatry and Neuroscience of Paris, working alongside renowned professionals such as Professor Gorwood (Head of Clinique des Maladies Mentales et de l'Encéphale). Beyond her dedicated work on eating disorders in Paris, Prof.Viltart is actively engaged in developing translational approaches with her colleagues at SCALab (Laboratoire de Sciences Cognitives et Affectives, heads Profs Nandrino and Casalis; Prof. Y Coello/Prof. H Sequeira-Dr L DeZorzi). Together, they aim to comprehend the emotional components of social interactions in both natural and artificial environments, exploring these aspects in both general and pathological populations. Her holistic approach to neuroscience, blending teaching and cutting-edge research, underscores her significant contributions to the academic and scientific community.
