Hosted by: Dr. Biljana Pesalj
Panel members: Cilia Keser (Managing Partner, Nexio Projects), Iwan Hellemons (Manager, Van Oort) & Jelle van Ham
Improving sustainability is imperative for businesses today. It is also one of the biggelt challenges companies of all sizes and in all sectors are faced with. Education has a key role and responsibility to support efforts towards global sustainability goals, by educating future managers and giving its contribution to the society. But what are the tools that can help to inform and guide choices and ensure that companies can make decisions that are profitable and at the same time good for the environment and society? And in which way sustainability needs to be thaught in the business school so that future managers are fit for the professional field? Panel will present an experiment introducing innovative educational model to produce positive impact on the education for sustainability as well as on the professional field. This is done by providing real-life practical experiences for students and providing opportunity to master the use of industry-specific digital tools, but also by providing more insight (and evidence) to the participants in the supply chain to motivate them to rethink current business practices, revenue models and collaboration opportunities in order to scale up transition to circular economy and more sustainable business and society. We partnered with Ecochain and Nexio Projects to introduce practical tools so that students can gain hands on experience and make an impact by: • applying Life Cycle Assessment digital analytical tools (software and data sets) made available by Ecochain and • developing strategic recommendations, using the practical methodology of Nexio Projects, to reduce the Ecological Footprint in the supply chain of case companies (SMEs).
