COVID-19 data portal & dataFAIRification
An interactive session to discuss lessons-learned and issues in a pragmatic journey
Parallel session of the Health-RI conference 2021
- Date: 4 March 2021
- Time: 16:40-17:10
In response to the current outbreak of COVID-19 Health-RI launched the Dutch COVID-19 Data Support Programme, together with relevant stakeholders, to facilitate and stimulate an integrated health data infrastructure.
Now is the time to preserve data from COVID-19 patients and to use these for further observational research. Also, for long-term care, it is essential that we acquire new knowledge, efficiently and quickly.
Part of the steps to take to assure this involve making sure that data created across the board is FAIR and that it is made available to the research community at large.
Together with the NFU, ZonMw, the GO-FAIR Foundation and DTL, Health-RI has been supporting researchers in the process of creating FAIR metadata and exposing it via the COVID data portal.
In this session the hosts will discuss how practical steps have led to the creation of this FAIR (meta)data for COVID research projects and cohorts, that are automatically presented via a common data portal. This journey has shown us how to start building towards a National Health data portal, but most importantly has led to a better understanding of what still needs to be done.
We will be discussing some of these issues interactively with the audience.
Organizers:
Mijke Jetten (DTL/Health-RI), Rita Azevedo (Lygature/Health-RI), together with Margreet Bloemers (ZonMw), Jeroen Beliën (Amsterdam UMC), Erik Schultes (GO FAIR)
