Sam Tsemberis will be one of our headliners. Known for his pioneering work in developing the Housing First model, Dr. Tsemberis will share his insights and experiences, providing his perspectives on the new horizons of Housing First.

This Conference will bring together experts and practitioners to discuss and develop strategies for advancing the Housing First model across Europe. Attendees will engage in a range of sessions, including plenary talks, workshops and site visits, focusing on topics such as facilitating engagement between HF and other sectors, addressing the needs of specific populations, and innovative practices in Housing First. The event aims to foster collaboration and share insights to systems change through the Housing First principles in a changing, evolving context.

 

Schedule Overview

Monday 18th November

Pre-Conference Workshop on Housing First for Youth: from 13:30 to 16:45 (info and registration to come). 

Led by HF4Y experts from Ireland, Scotland, and Canada. Reflecting on the rowing evidence base for HF4Y's success as a programme and an approach. 

  • building relationships for service and housing with Focus Ireland, Cluid Housing, and Rock Trust;
  • growing the evidence base for HF4Y in Europe and Canada - findings from the first international research; 
  • advocating for prevention of youth homelessness across sectors.

Project visits: from 12:00 to 16:30

Focus Ireland and other partners will arrange small group visits to homelessness and Housing First services in Dublin. More details to follow.

 

From 16:30 to 18:30: Work group Community of practice meetings

Tuesday 19th November

On 19 November, we will open the conference with a plenary session on the development of Housing First in Ireland. After the coffee break, there will be simultaneous working spaces at the conference venue. These sessions will include closed or open meetings for projects and organisations on how Housing First engages with other sectors. Please see the draft programme for details about the open sessions. In the evening, will host a Hub cocktail dinner, which will be paid for separately from the fee.

 

Wednesday 20th November

On 20th November, attendees will participate in the main programme, including several simultaneous workshops, followed by a closing plenary with a wrap-up speech by Sam Tsemberis, founder and executive director of Pathways to Housing and the main developer of the Housing First model, on the future of this methodology.

The working language for the conference will be English.

About the Venue: Dublin Castle is a major government complex and popular tourist attraction, reflecting Ireland's rich heritage and its evolution through the ages. We will use several rooms to host simultaneous workshops on different topics.
