Abstract submission

You can now submit an abstract for the BioSB 2017 conference programme. The main programme of the conference will feature several parallel sessions with thematic topics that will be filled through abstract submission. The topics are specified below.

There will be a separate technology track for ELIXIR Netherlands. To submit for this track, please select the 'ELIXIR-NL technology track' topic in Easychair.

Submission deadlines:

• CLOSED: abstract submission deadline oral presentations: February 19, 2017
• Abstract submission deadline for posters: March 20, 2017 but you can still submit abstracts!
• Notification date oral presentations: extended March 10.

Oral presentation

You can submit an abstract to present your work in one of the topical parallel sessions during the conference. The presentation slot will be approximately 15-20 minutes + 5 minutes for questions. 

Abstract submission for oral presentations is closed. All abstracts submitted after the submission deadline will only be considered for a poster presentation/demo.

Poster session

You can submit an abstract for a poster presentation during the poster session that is planned in the late afternoon/evening of April 4, preceding the conference dinner. You can choose to present your your research as a poster. Posters should be prepared in A0 portrait format (height: 1189 mm (46.81 inches) and width: 841 mm (33.11 inches)).

If you would like to give a demo of software or databases you developed you can do this together with your poster. Choose: 'BioSB 2017 poster with accompanying demonstration' in Easychair. Please bring your own laptop for this. 

As we have limited space for poster presentations, the submissions will be handled on a first come first serve basis. If the number of posters exceeds the maximum number, we will close the submission for posters.

Abstract preparation

Please prepare a 1-page abstract in PDF. The format should be A4 paper, use Times Roman (10pt) and contain two columns separated by 0.5 cm whitespace with margins of 2 cm. Please specify a title, the authors and their affiliations and e-mail addresses. If applicable please use the section headings “Introduction”, “Materials & Methods”, “Results” and “Discussion”. A page number should be omitted. If possible, please use the Word or LaTeX template provided. An example abstract can be found here.

Submission procedure

You can submit your abstract via the EasyChair abstract submission system. If you do not already have an account, you will be prompted to create one the first time you visit EasyChair. When submitting, please also provide the full abstract in the “Abstract” text box and upload the PDF as the paper.

During submission of abstracts for the BioSB 2017 main conference you can indicate if you would like to present your abstract orally only, as a poster if not accepted for a presentation, or as a poster only. Abstracts will be reviewed by the BioSB 2017 Programme committee or one of the session/track committees, selecting up to 3 submissions for oral presentation per session. You will receive a notification by e-mail.
