Lukas Repnik - 2024:
What is neuroscience 𝙖𝙘𝙩𝙪𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙮 about?
I always thought neuroscience was about imaging techniques, complex statistical methods, and knowledge of functional neuroanatomy. Although this is certainly true, I realized that I was missing one major aspect. Because neuroscience is so much more than that.
As part of the Summer School on Affective Neuroscience in the beautiful city of Florence, Italy, I was fortunate to attend an excellent program last week on the topics of fear, anxiety, obsessions, and trauma. Top-class lectures on basic research, as well as translational research and therapeutic interventions by international experts, provided a great framework for the course. In particular, the lectures by Dean Mobbs, Ulrike Lueken, and Bernet Elzinga were highly relevant to my research topics, and I would like to thank the lecturers for the exciting presentations and discussions.

Luisa Rotenberg - 2019 & 2022:
The AFN Summer School was a defining experience for my PhD and research career, offering high-level academic discussions in a welcoming and collaborative atmosphere. It deepened my understanding of affective neuroscience, provided valuable knowledge that continues to shape my work, and connected me with inspiring researchers from around the world. Beyond that, it gave me lasting friendships and professional connections that I still cherish today
Maximilian Kiebs - 2017 & 2018:
Attending the Summer School on Affective Neuroscience was an enriching experience on multiple levels. Not only did it offer a great scientific agenda that expanded my understanding, but it also provided invaluable networking opportunities. It was during this time that I met Julian Mutz, who has since become not just a cherished colleague but also a close friend. The lectures were incredibly educational, delving deep into the intricacies of the field, while the exercises were both challenging and rewarding. Overall, it was a truly memorable and transformative experience.
