Please check the forecast before you travel and bring an umbrella and waterproof jacket if rain is in the forecast. The welcome reception is casual (note that it starts with a Canal Cruise).
Shoes
At the tours, comfortable flat-soled walking shoes are advised (at some houses even required); those in heels, please bring flat shoes or socks to wear in the houses. Also, please be advised that some sites have uneven, sloping or gravel terrain, and walking is required for short distances. Shoe covers will be provided and required at several sites.

Photo Policy
Exterior photography is permitted at all tour sites unless otherwise stated during the tour, provided it does not interfere with the tour schedule and is for private, non-commercial use only. Staff will advise when interior photography is permitted. Failure to abide by these policies may affect future access to private sites and the Iconic Houses Foundation's ability to interact productively with the owners. Thank you for your cooperation.
Policies
Iconic Houses tours cannot accommodate children under the age of 16. No pets are allowed at any of the conference sessions, afternoon tours or evening events. No smoking is allowed on tours or at evening events.
Schedule
Please be aware that each day program starts at its scheduled time. Buses will not be delayed waiting for latecomers. Please respect your fellow conference attendees by arriving on time for bus departures, and by following the instructions of bus staff and tour docents who must maintain a strict schedule.
Transportation
Both tour days depart from THE HOTEL (later to be announced). Vans will transport attendees from there to the tour locations on Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 May. No private vehicles are allowed at the house locations; those attending must use the vans. Guests who choose to stay at alternate locations will be responsible for securing their own transportation to THE HOTEL. Parking for participants of the conference is possible in Q-PArk Parking Garage Museumplein.
Amsterdam
if you want to book dinner for Saturday 25 May, don't wait because popular restaurants in Amsterdam are fully booked months in advance. Our personal recommendations are: Café Restaurant De Plantage, The Seafood Bar in Berlage's famous former Stock Exchange Building on Damrak, French cuisine in Cantine de Caron (our favourite location is at Westergasfabriek), Brut de Mer (Oysters, Fish & Bubbles) in De Pijp, or Mexican cuisine at Bacalar in Amsterdam North (then you take the ferry behind the Central Station across the IJ and see the recent expansion developments in that part of the city as well). Zum Barbarossa, a hidden place at Spui.
If you extend your stay, go for a picnic in the Vondelpark, have lunch in De Hallen, catch a movie at Theater Tuschinski, dine at café-restaurant Amsterdam, spend a night out in the Tolhuistuin or experience a romantic overnight stay in one of the city's many bridge keeper's houses of Sweets Hotel.
