About us
About us
The Centre for Meaningful Human Control over systems with autonomous capabilities:
We are a centre for actionable knowledge around MHC, both for academics and practitioners.
Our shared vision is to empower MHC over complex socio-technical systems that expose “responsibility gaps”. This can be especially hard when AI is embedded into a system, interacting with multiple stakeholders and making decisions in a wide range of applications, from the driving of a car to the pricing of services.
We hope to reflect, design, engineer systems under MHC, so that relevant humans (e.g. users, designers, developers, policymakers) feel and take responsibility over complex systems with autonomous capabilities, and meaningfully act upon it.
About the Handbook:
The Research Handbook on Meaningful Human Control of Artificial Intelligence Systems analyses the ethical development of AI systems through the prism of meaningful human control. It encapsulates a multitude of disciplinary lenses including technical, philosophical, and legal, making a crucial contribution to the ongoing discourse about control and responsibility in the field of AI.
