M&C-uitje!

Op donderdag 15 juni staat ons jaarlijks M&C-uitje gepland. Dit jaar gaan wij naar Heële, oftewel Heerlen! We starten op de Brightlands Campus waar Judith Kamalski, directeur van BIZZ, ons bijpraat over de ins en outs van dit interessante UM instituut. Daarna gaan we samen op pad voor een aantal andere leuke activiteiten.

Hieronder volgen de verschillende activiteiten. Jullie mogen zelf kiezen aan welke activiteit je wilt deelnemen. 

Streetart tour, een gids wandelt met ons rond door de mural hoofdstad van Nederland met als eindbestemming het Maankwartier.

Nederlands Mijnmuseum, in een monumentaal warenhuis in de binnenstad van Heerlen staat het mijnverleden letterlijk en figuurlijk in de etalage. Na een ontvangst en inleiding, ben je vrij om op ontdekking te gaan!

Thermen museum, dit Romeins archeologisch museum vertelt het verhaal van Coriovallum (de Romeinse stad die onder Heerlen ligt). Het topstuk is het Romeins badhuis: het best bewaarde Romeinse (publieke) badgebouw in Nederland. We worden ontvangen door archeoloog en conservator Karen Jeneson die ons rondleidt door het badhuis.

Op het einde van de middag verzamelen wij ons weer en krijgen wij een presentatie van Sem Wigman, eigenaar van Mockus. Hij gaat vertellen over “hoe archetypebranding een stad in transitie focus geeft”, een project van Mockus i.s.m. Gemeente Heerlen.

Wij sluiten af met een diner op het hoogste punt van Heerlen-centrum, brasserie Mijnstreek.

M&C-outing!

On Thursday, June 15, our annual M&C outing is scheduled. This year we are going to Heële, or Heerlen! We start at the Brightlands Campus where Judith Kamalski, director of BIZZ, updates us on the ins and outs of this interesting UM institute. Then we'll head out together for a number of other fun activities.

Below are the different activities. You may choose which activity you want to participate in.

Streetart tour, a guide walks with us around the mural capital of the Netherlands with the Maankwartier as final destination.

Dutch Mining Museum, in a monumental department store in downtown Heerlen, the mining past is literally and figuratively in the shop window. After a welcome and introduction, you are free to explore!

Thermen Museum, this Roman archaeological museum tells the story of Coriovallum (the Roman city located beneath Heerlen). The centerpiece is the Roman bathhouse: the best preserved Roman (public) bath building in the Netherlands. We are welcomed by archaeologist and curator Karen Jeneson who leads us around the bathhouse.

At the end of the afternoon, we will gather again and receive a presentation from Sem Wigman, owner of Mockus. He will talk about "how archetype branding gives focus to a city in transition," a project of Mockus in cooperation with Gemeente Heerlen.

We will conclude with a dinner at the highest point of Heerlen center, brasserie Mijnstreek.
