Tours

After the first day of the Proton Therapy Symposium, we are pleased to offer two tours that will be organised at PARTREC and the UMC Groningen Proton Therapy Center.
 

PARTREC - Tour
The PARticle Therapy REsearch Center (PARTREC, https://umcgresearch.org/w/partrec) is a pre-clinical facility at UMCG, working in close cooperation with Groningen Proton Therapy Centre. PARTREC research activities are focused on medical applications and encompass medical physics, radiation biology, radiotherapy and instrumentation technology. The tour at the facility takes place in groups of 10-12 persons, lasts about one hour and includes the visit of the accelerator and its control room, of the test beam experimental room as well as of the on-site facilities for in-vivo and in-vitro experiments, such as animal hotel, clean rooms and probe preparation rooms and microscopy equipment. Buses are organised for the transfer of tour participants to PARTREC and back to the symposium venue (DOT).

A limited number of participants applies. We will apply a first come, first served policy.

UMC Groningen Proton Therapy Center - Tour
At the Groningen Proton Therapy Center we offer quality treatment of cancer patients who qualify for proton therapy. The state-of-the-art facility allows for all modern proton therapy treatments using pencil beam scanning (PBS) and is one of the first proton therapy facilities equipped with CBCT acquisition capability enabling online image guided proton therapy, together with Vision RT. During the tour you will visit the facility, including the gantry, operating room, recovery room and CT room. The tour lasts approximately one hour.
